Kimch & Microplastics.

🍇🍈🍎
I’ve always thought I was a bad sleeper.
Because I often wake up after having very vivid dreams.

Those dreams felt like a problem — like they were disturbing my sleep.
But recently, I heard something surprising.
Vivid dreams might actually be a good sign.
They can mean your brain is busy cleaning up all the “mental trash” from the day.

I know you are wondering why I'm talking about dreams now.

And guess what?
After another night full of vivid dreams, I woke up feeling clearer — not tired today.

After hearing that explanation about dreams, I suddenly feel like my head is clearer and more refreshed.
It’s kind of ridiculous, isn’t it?
Nothing actually changed — except the way I think about it.

Even better, those dreams helped me organize my thoughts for today’s topic.
Because honestly… I was stuck yesterday.

I didn’t know how to make a  presentation about microplastics and kimchi!

I'm sure you knew that we unintentionally eat about a credit card’s worth of plastic every week.
Sounds scary.

But don’t worry — I have a delicious secret weapon in my fridge: kimchi.
Kimchi is not just tasty.
It’s packed with dietary fiber and probiotics.
Think of it as a tiny cleaning crew inside your body.

These “good bacteria” act like little brooms, helping push out toxins — and possibly even microplastics.

And there are many kinds of kimchi you can enjoy.

If you’re worried about salt, try baek-kimchi, which is white kimchi,
or dongchimi, a refreshing water kimchi.

They are low in salt but rich in probiotics, especially in the juice.
Also, don’t forget kkakdugi — crunchy radish kimchi.
Radish is actually great for natural detox.

Here’s an important tip:
Try to eat your kimchi fresh and raw.
When you cook it in stew, the heat can kill the good bacteria.
So if you want the full health benefits, raw is the way to go.

And one more tip — eat kimchi with sweet potatoes.
The potassium helps balance out the effects of salt.

So, what’s the takeaway?
We may not be able to completely avoid microplastics.
But we can help our bodies fight back.

And for me, the answer is simple.
As a Korean woman who loves kimchi, I truly believe this:
Kimchi is the tastiest medicine in the world.

And I know many of you here — our pro home cooks —
already know how amazing water kimchi is.
You’ve been enjoying both its taste and its benefits for years.

But for this presentation, I just wanted to pause and appreciate it one more time.
