Dream & Reality.

There was a time when I thought I was too old to chase dreams.

At some point, instead of dreaming about things, I decided to act on whatever I truly wanted to do — immediately.
After missing the “right timing” a few times in life, I learned that waiting too long sometimes means losing the chance altogether.

So these days, I am more interested in reality than dreams.
And interestingly enough, I am just as fascinated by virtual reality.

The idea itself is mind-blowing.
In 2003, British philosopher and Oxford professor Nick Bostrom proposed the famous “simulation hypothesis” through his paper asking: Are we living inside a computer simulation?

Later, Elon Musk went even further, claiming that the probability of us living in “true reality” might be only one in billions.

At that point, it becomes impossible not to wonder: What is reality, anyway?
Of course, even if geniuses discuss such enormous ideas, ordinary people like me may never fully grasp them.

So instead, I simply focus on enjoying the kinds of virtual experiences that I can actually explore within my own life.
With VR, I could:

1.Sit comfortably in my living room while visiting famous places around the world — or revisiting places I once traveled to.
2.Enjoy indoor fishing or golf regardless of the weather.
3.Meet old friends or family members again in virtual spaces.
4.Join gentle exercise programs designed for physical health without leaving home.
5.Revisit the neighborhood where I grew up through 360-degree photo technology.
6.Stimulate my brain with VR games and quizzes that may help maintain memory.
7.Walk virtually through forests or along beaches while enjoying meditation.
8.Experience museums with guided explanations from virtual docents and continue learning simply for the joy of it.

And at this stage of my life, perhaps my remaining dream — or maybe my new kind of reality — is this:

To freely step into rich virtual worlds and enjoy all of these experiences whenever I choose.
