What do I read?

🤩 A.c. Do you prefer comics or novels?

My reading taste has changed a lot over the years.

When I was little, comics were my greatest joy.
Before I even started school, my parents went to work during the day, and I often spent long afternoons alone at the local comic shop.
I read comics for hours, and I’m pretty sure the dim lights in those shops back then are the reason my eyesight became so bad.

During Lunar New Year holidays, I got pocket money and rented whole comic series. I would lie on my stomach on the warm floor, snack on little treats, and read comics all day.
Those were some of the happiest moments of my childhood.

As I grew older, I started reading many storybooks and novels.
Then television arrived, and I moved on to movies and dramas.

Later, when Netflix came out, I watched so many shows—both Korean and international—that I almost became a couch potato for quite a while.

But that phase eventually ended.
Today, I don’t read comics or novels at all.
I simply don’t have the patience or energy to sit through long stories anymore.

Instead, I mostly watch short, summarized videos on YouTube.
I guess I’ve become a bit impatient.
The fast-changing world and the awareness of limited time make me want everything quicker and more efficiently.

And now I’m curious: what comes after this?
After enjoying summary videos, what will be the next stage of my viewing or reading habits?
I don’t know yet—but I’m looking forward to finding out.

There is, however, one exception sitting on my shelf: Cosmos by Carl Sagan.
I haven’t read it yet—it just sits there like a homework assignment I’ve been putting off.

But somehow, I keep the quiet hope that one day, I will finally open it and read it slowly, carefully, savoring every page.
I really do wish that day would come sooner.

Perhaps this is all part of reflecting on myself, taking a moment to look back at how I’ve spent my time and what I truly enjoy.
