Keeping diaries.

The three reasons I've mentioned are all quite valid. Even adults might sometimes lie or hide the truth when writing in their diaries, possibly because of a mix of complex emotions and a natural instinct for self-preservation.

1. Fear that someone might read it one day:
Even a personal diary can be written with the possibility in mind that someone else might eventually see it, leading people to filter or adjust their feelings or facts.


2. Not wanting to show one's weak or flawed side, even to oneself: It’s natural for people to avoid facing their weaknesses.
The desire to portray oneself as stronger or more ideal is a common human tendency.


3. To subtly guide the narrative in a desirable direction:
Writing can also be a way to direct one’s life toward a more positive or aspirational outcome.
A diary isn't just a list of facts, but sometimes a means of creating a hopeful story for oneself, a way to envision a better future or achieve goals.



However, as I pointed out, this isn’t necessarily a bad thing.
It’s less about lying and more about comforting oneself.
Diaries are not bound by rules or laws dictating how they must be written—they are simply tools for self-reflection and growth.
What really matters is whether those writings offer comfort or meaning to the writer.
